5 Big Reasons Why Android Developers Don’t Make Money

Android developers make 50x less money than iPhone developers. Read this article to find out why that is, and how Google can fix it.

…Distributing the apps for free meant a lot more people could try them and buy stuff from inside the app.
Android absolutely needs this in order to lure more developers to their platform and reward them in a better way. After all why spend the amount of time building an Android app when you can make 50x more on the iphone platform. For almost all developers, the choice is easy, and they build Android apps as an afterthought. This is why the same app on Android is usually of lower quality than the one on iphone.
Paypal has announced libraries for in-app purchases for Android. However, I’m sure developers would prefer a more integrated way of getting users pay with one click, perhaps with a Google Checkout account. This would also mean a higher sign-up rate for its Google Checkout business, which they’ve been ignoring lately.
2. Enabling paid apps in all countries

For some reason, Google is not enabling paid apps in too many countries, and they are moving extremely so to do it. I’m not sure if this is because…

Android "Laser Focused" On User Experience For Next Release

…Google’s Android team has been pushing new versions of the operating system at a furious pace since the first Android device hit the market in 2008. Lots of features have been added over the last couple of years. But the user experience hasn’t evolved much.
That’s all going to change in the next version, we’ve heard from multiple sources close to Google.
The team more or less has the core features they want at this point, say our sources, although more tweaks are certainly coming. But Google wants to put an end to the desire of handset manufacturers and carriers to add their own UI layer on top of Google things like Sense, Motoblur, Ninjablur, etc.
Most of the time their shells aren’t all that great anyway (see HTC EVO), and they tend to slow down the device.
Google is focusing the bulk of its efforts on the user experience for the upcoming Gingerbread release to counter this. And they want to get the Android experience closer to the iPhone.
It’s unlikely that third parties will ever completely resist the…

How Android, Chrome and iPad are shielding us from malware

Modern operating systems designed for the Web age—like the iPhone OS, Android, and Google’s upcoming Chrome OS—were built from the ground up with security in mind.

…The future and what to do about it.The End of Malware? How Android, Chrome, and the iPad are shielding us from dastardly programs.By Farhad ManjooPosted Thursday, June 3, 2010, at 4:34 PM ETIs it safer to bank on an iPad? One day in April, David Green, the president of a party supply firm in Oklahoma, needed to authorize a bank transfer. Green’s company has a policy about online banking: Never do it on a Windows machine. But according to an account by tech security reporter Brian Krebs, Green was home sick and didn’t have access to his company Mac. So he used his Windows PC at home to log in to his firm’s bank account. Google’s Android OS Headed To The Chevy Volt

Earlier this month, General Motors revealed they had partnered up with a major tech company to completely revamp their telematics system, OnStar. Motor Trend is now reporting that partnership is with Google. If the rumor’s true, the Chevy Volt will be the first Android-based vehicle to hit the road.

…But having the next-gen version of OnStar be Android-based unlocks opportunities beyond that of just your smart-phone. Not just for GM and Google…but for any automaker interested in on-board tech. An open-source cross-platform system could easily be extended to automakers like Th!nk or ZAP motors. Considering Google’s cofounders are heavily invested in Tesla Motors, it’s not that far fetched.

Android-based apps, that are vehicle agnostic, would allow drivers to share information about their cars and more importantly build communities. Instead of information being limited to only Volt drivers, that data would be accessible to anyone. Private residences could easily notify other EV owners if their home charging station is available for use….

10 best Google Android based Smart Phones

Find the latest review of 10 best Google android based smart phones.

…10. T-Mobile G2 Touch
The G1 was the first of all the Google Android handsets, and with its slide-out keyboard and brick like design, it was hard to see that the phone would ever challenge Apple. This second generation model is a lot better, having ditched the keyboard for a straightforward touch screen….

Breaking: Android - Now On The iPhone :: App Advice

iPhone hacker and Dev-Team member Planetbeing just managed to port Google’s Android Mobile OS to the iPhone.

…Superior? HAH. If you’re a Google sucker and use Google this and Google that, it might be superior, but for the rest of us adults, Android is a complete farkin FAILURE. Look at the bugs (many of them involving permanent data loss) at code.google.com/p/android a big one now is that the OS is simply blowing away saved text messages. Email is broken. Bluetooth is half assed. You still can’t install apps on the SD card. It still barfs at PDF support. It barfs with Google DOCS for pete’s sake. Android is a half baked broke ass shareware project. I am amazed that any company is shipping phones with it in the state that it’s in. Seriously look at all of the problems that people are having with it on their Droid. Poor Exchange support, crappy email, weak media player. Aside from multitasking (which sucks battery life) what DOES Android really do better? I can’t think of anything except cater to Google.
Oh, and yes, I had an Android phone. Had a Mytouch 3G just a couple of months ago. Now Android 2.x is shipping and…

…Google has taken another step forward in visual and image search after acquiring UK-based startup Plink. Having only launched 4 months ago, Plink is a visual search engine which you can download as an Android app and take a photo of a picture to find out more information about it.
Plink has a lot of info in their official blog post, but it appears as thought he developers will keep Plink available for download but instead shift focus towards Google’s equivalent Google Goggles.

With how quickly technology is growing, it’s not surprising to see this kind of buyout from Google. They’re an extremely innovative company and are currently leading us through this technological revolution. Combining a company such as Plink with their Google Goggles app for Android is amazing business strategy, and we’ll see some serious results in the field of visual search over the next few months.
Although Google hasn’t released any word as of yet, it’s safe to say they have their own reasons for the buyout. I’m excited to see…
