…The Google Android 3.0 operating system is in the testing stage, and the first results of an online test of Linpack were presented in a video. Moreover, according to a source, in the trial were also involved 3.0.1 and 3.2 versions, which are being developed now.

This information once again confirms plans for Google Android 3.0 release this fall. According to the analyst Ashok Kumar, the third version of Android will be adapted for the Motorola Tablet PCs, which will go on sale in November.

Experts believe that Motorola is preparing to release the first worthy competitor to Apple iPad in the United States. Nothing more is known yet.

It is also not reported about the innovations that will be used in Android 3.0. The platform will probably receive a modified interface and will support new services, like Google Music….

Google Releasing DIY "App Inventor"- App Creation

Ever wanted to become an Android developer and write your own app, but felt overwhelmed by programming language? Well, Google heard your cries! As of today, Google is releasing a do-it-yourself application creation tool, called App Inventor for Android. The beta of App Inventor should be available publicly as early as today!

…Google considers App Inventor a comprehensive tool capable of creating anything you could think of, from maze and Whackamole games to apps utilizing the accelerometer, from educational quiz games using text-to-speech to apps utilizing GPS services.

And the most fascinating part about App Inventor is that it requires no knowledge of programming! Google Labs has prepared for you a handy UI, on which you can build your apps with ease. The first test users included sixth graders, high school girls, nursing students, and college undergrads (who weren’t computer science majors). And supposedly, all of these demographics were able to develop apps with ease. How does it work? You’ll be basically dragging and dropping “blocks”. Google explains how “blocks” are the cornerstone of App Inventor:…

Android Gets a Build-Your-Own-App App

Got an idea for a smartphone app? If you’ve got an Android phone you might be able to build it yourself, thanks to App Inventor for Android, a new Google Labs program for Windows, OS X, and Linux that’s designed to make building Android programs as easy as piecing blocks together.

…App Inventor is in closed beta at the moment, and Google says it’ll let folks in “soon” — you can sign up here. As you’ll see if you fill out the sign-up form, Google sees the program as an educational tool of particular interest to teachers and students.
It’s an exciting idea that’s more than slightly reminiscent of HyperCard, the brilliant visual programming tool that was a big deal on the Mac more than twenty years ago, and which is missed to this day. HyperCard or something similar would be a boon on the iPhone — even Steve Jobs has says he thinks so, although Apple apparently doesn’t have any interest in building such an application itself, and new restrictions in the iOS developer agreement prevent apps developed with the HyperCard-like RunRev from being distributed on the App Store.
(More and more, I think that the surface similarities between Android and iOS are less interesting than the fundamental differences in emphasis and philosophy — and the more different the two OSes get, the more…

Apple’s iPad passes Google Android in total browser us

Apple’s iPad passes Google Android in total browser usage share.

…More people are browsing the Web via an iPad than on an Android-powered device, according to new monthly browser usage data from one analytics firm.

In just three months on the market, Apple’s iPad has come to represent 0.17 percent of all Web browser traffic tracked by Net Applications. The iPad’s June total managed to exceed Android, which represented 0.14 percent of all Web browsing traffic.
Behind both of them was another iOS-powered device from Apple, the iPod touch. In June, the iPod touch took 0.12 percent of the Web browser share, according to Net Applications.
The iPad has seen a steady climb since it was released in April, notching 0.03 percent in the first month, when it was only available in the U.S. In May, the numbers tripled to 0.09 percent, only to nearly double again in June to the 0.17 percent figure that pushed it past Android.
The numbers, however, do not mean that there are more iPads on the market than Android devices. But the stats do indicate that a far higher percentage of iPad…

Maemo vs Android

There is no doubt that Linux will be the dominant player in the mobile market by the end of 2010. This is largely thanks to Google’s Android OS, which has been appearing on more handsets than I can count the past few months. Android is not the only mobile Linux operating system (however, it is easily the most popular) that exists.

…Speaking of widgets - I highly suggest you find one for toggling your
device’s WiFi on and off. If you do not have one of these you have to dig
through three layers of settings menus to toggle it. Want to connect to a
new access point? Three layers of menus again. I think something used as
often as a WiFi connection should be more readily available for usage.
Toggling your data connection on Android is just as annoying and you cannot
even disable your data fully with a single switch. When you uncheck the
“data connection” in the settings manager, you are informed that some
applications might still use background data.To fully disable your 2g/3g -
e.g., to save some battery juice - you need to crawl through each of your
individual applications that might use background data and be sure they are
off. Inconvenient to say the least. I am sure there is an application out
there to fully toggle it off it with one button - but it is not included by
default, and it should be….

Motorola Android Tablet Coming Soon Motorola Gadgets Mob

Motorola is looking at developing a new tablet-style product that could run Google’s Android operating system, a company exec recently revealed. Motorola co-CEO…

…also as a way of walking around the house and streaming TV to that device, Jha said. I think we’re very focused in participating in this convergence that’s coming between mobility and home, and I think you will actually see some products from us in a very short period of time.
Jha went on to say he could easily see such a device running the Android operating system.
The Motorola Android tablet talk comes alongside reports that the company has two new high-end Droid phones in the works. According to a story published in The Wall Street Journal on Friday, Verizon Wireless is planning to debut the Android smartphones sometime in July. The paper says Motorola struck a deal with Verizon to make sure the devices would be heavily promoted.
Could one of those devices be the oft-discussed Motorola Shadow you know, the phone found in a gym earlier this week? It certainly seems plausible….
