…Dell’s upcoming Mini 5 tablet will run on a currently unreleased version of Google’s Linux-based Android operating system. According to Engadget, the tablet device will run on a new version the increasingly popular Android OS that has never been seen in the wild before.
The prototype models of the Snapdragon-powered Mini 5 run on build number 1.6 or Donut. However an unnamed Dell staff member told Engadget that the final product will run something newer .
The tablet will have Flash support, which is a technology feat that Apple could not manage without damaging Steve Jobs’ ego. Since it has Flash it would appear to indicate that the handheld device will be running on at least a 2.0 build of the Android. The next version, dubbed Froyo, is also a possibility.
Anyway whatever Android version the Mini 5 does end up shipping with, the word is that the tablet will be fully upgradable.
The Dell Mini 5 is expected to launch in a few months. No specific price has been announced, but the WiFi and 3G friendly device…
