While your application has not been rejected, it would be appropriate to remove “Finalist in Google’s Android Developer’s Challenge!” from the Application Description.
…This is not entirely Apple vs. Google story. A couple of weeks ago I was kindly asked to remove cross references to other apps from my app descriptions. All apps were iPhone apps, so no competition there. Earlier, a free app was rejected because in response to some actions it was displaying an alert prompting the user to buy the full ($1) version of the app using a Buy button which opens the AppStore application. The Apple rep said it is OK to have Lite and Full version but trying to up-sell the customer with an alert is not a good idea. When I think about that, they are right.
I was involved in 10 developing and posting on the AppStore of 10 applications (some 20 submissions if you count version updates).and experienced 3 or 4 rejections on the way. All of those were for good reason, so, in general, I am OK with Apple’s approval process. In fact, the biggest pain was the long approval time (about 2 weeks at some point). Now that is reduced to 4-5 days….
